What a free sample includes
A sample is a set of real records drawn from the dataset you're interested in, showing every column you would receive in the full purchase — for Bill of Lading data that means the shipper and consignee details, HS code, product description, ports, vessel, volume and shipment date. For customs data it includes the declared value, duty and tax IDs where available. It lets you confirm the coverage, freshness and field structure before committing.
How it works
- Tell us the country, trade flow and product or HS code you care about using the form below.
- We prepare a representative sample from that dataset.
- You receive it by email, usually within one business day.
What to check in your sample
When the sample arrives, look at three things before you order. First, coverage — confirm the country, trade flow and time period match what you need. Second, the fields — check that the columns you rely on are populated, such as the shipper and consignee names, the HS code and product description, the ports, and the shipment value or weight. Third, the granularity — every row is one real shipment, so you can judge how the volume and detail will scale up in the full dataset.
The more specific you are in the form, the more representative the sample: naming a product or HS code lets us draw records that actually match your use case rather than a generic slice. Samples are free and there's no obligation to buy. When you're ready, browse the Bill of Lading database, customs data or discounted multi-country packages.
